It’s been 3 weeks since our last update! We usually aim to deliver smaller, frequent updates so you can experience improvements faster, but this time, we packed so much into this update that one week just wasn’t enough. It took us a bit longer, but we’re excited to walk you through all the changes we’ve made.
⭐ This Week's Highlights
(Global) Command Bar ⌨️
One of the most crucial aspects of any productivity tool is ‘accessibility’. You should be able to create tasks quickly, anytime and anywhere. While it’s not fully ‘global’ yet, we’ve launched an in-app command bar for OFFLIGHT.
- Press
CMD (CTRL) + K
to open the command bar and create tasks easily. - Use
#
when creating a task to select or create a list. - You can enter dates/times directly to schedule tasks or create time blocks instantly.
⛳ What’s next?
We’re working on improving stability first, and then we’ll introduce a true ‘global command bar’ that works anywhere on your desktop. (*Desktop app exclusive feature)
📚 Check out the Guide document to learn how to use the command bar.
Recurring Task Rebuild 🔁
We’ve had quite a few bugs related to recurring tasks and recurring time blocks in the calendar. These issues were frustrating for users who rely on flexible routines and systems in OFFLIGHT, and it even led to some users leaving. So, we’ve completely rebuilt the logic for creating and editing recurring tasks to enhance stability.
Additionally, if you change a recurring time block on the same day, it will now only update that specific event by default, without asking for confirmation.
Major Mobile Update 📱
Haven’t downloaded the OFFLIGHT mobile app yet? Or did you take a break from using it? Now’s the perfect time to try it again because we’ve made significant improvements to the UI/UX over the past 3 weeks.
- Improved Task Readability: We redesigned the task list to make it more readable. We adjusted the font, list design, checkboxes, and spacing between tasks for a cleaner look.
- New Default Screen: When you reopen the app after 30 minutes of inactivity, it now shows the Today page with your task list instead of the Inbox page.
- Enhanced Task Shortcuts: Clicking on linked tasks now opens the source app (Slack, Notion, Linear, etc.) directly, or in your preferred browser.
- Data Sync Improvements: Your data now syncs automatically every time you open or switch screens.
- Markdown View for Task Notes: You can now view notes in Markdown format on mobile. However, Markdown is only supported in view mode; when editing, you’ll still use plain text.

Performance & Stability Improvements
- Performance: We’ve partially fixed the issue where the app slows down when using the 7-day view in the calendar. We’re still working on improving the drag-and-drop performance for tasks and events.
- Stability: We resolved an issue where task updates (editing, deleting, or completing) were not reflected and reverted back to their previous state.
🐛 Bug Fixes
- Fixed an issue where past tasks planned for Today would disappear from the Today list.
- Resolved a bug where tasks scheduled for future dates didn’t appear immediately.
- Fixed a problem where tasks set as Top Priority in the Unplanned view would disappear temporarily, then reappear in the Today list.
- Addressed an issue where the Focusing feature didn’t work when there were no tasks planned for Today.
- Updated text from "Move to Unplanned" to "Move to Inbox" for better clarity, as the left lane is now labeled Inbox.
- Improved the experience so you don’t need to log in again if you’re already logged in on another tab.
- Fixed an issue where the loading screen remained if there were no linked calendars.
- Properly reset data when the session expired and you were logged out.
🎒 Behind the Scenes
- Since July, we’ve been conducting interviews with many of you to understand what kind of product OFFLIGHT should become. The vision is becoming clearer now. So far, we’ve focused on building a strong foundation with stability and speed, but moving forward, we’ll introduce features that will offer an experience 10x better than today. We’re talking about a major overhaul that we might even call OFFLIGHT 2.0. It’s going to take some time, but we’ll keep sharing our progress and sneak peeks along the way.
- Balancing speed and stability in software is like building a car – pushing for more speed can sometimes compromise stability, and improving stability can slow things down. We’re learning how to catch both rabbits, and it’s definitely not easy!
